The Cathedral Church of Saint Mary, Blackburn

For service ringing the best places to park are: Darwen Street (pay and display but free on Sundays) just down from the Market Street Lane junction; Saint Peter Street or Mill Lane (both pay and display). On Sundays it may be possible to park in the Cathedral precinct, there are two entrances which are both off Darwen Street. The first is to turn left into the Cathedral Close. The second is to turn into Dandy Lane immediately before “The Postal Order” and head up the ramp to the car park.  For major events the parking in the precinct is often controlled by tickets.  Council car parks are free on Saturdays and the multi story car park in Fielden Street is only a couple of minutes walk.

PEALS ON THE BELLS

The Dean and Chapter encourage peals on the bells and we always welcome enquiries. The standard peal fee is £5 per rope and if you would like to book the bells then please let me know. Most peals are rung on a Wednesday evening (from 6pm) and Sunday afternoons before the 4pm service.

Recent changes to the one way system at the top of Mincing Lane now require cars to turn left into King Street and then first right and right again to access Darwen Street. If approaching from the west then it is best to turn into Montague Street (at the Bank Top traffic signals) and then first right at the next set of signals. Follow the signs for the Cathedral after passing the Fielden Street multi story car park. At weekends parking in Council car parks is free.
